About
Kevin Sexton is an industrial designer and builder with a studio workshop in Half Moon Bay, California.
Kevin graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design: Product Design & Development. After college, Kevin spent several years working with an electric vehicle startup and operating his own business in ecommerce. Eventually, Kevin came to the realization that he valued creativity above most else and began to pursue his passion in industrial design and woodworking. Today, he collaborates with respected Bay Area outfits such as Bay Area Custom Furniture and Snake Craft, while operating his own shop in Half Moon Bay.
Roots…
Kevin’s ancestral roots dually begin in China and England/Ireland and migrate through San Francisco’s Chinatown on his mother’s side and the farmsteads of Michigan on his father’s side. It was on the San Francisco Peninsula where he was born and raised, from where his father taught him to use woodworking tools and Adobe software, while lessons on hard work and sacrifice were learned though his mother.
Kevin’s work is grounded by a lineage of caring survivalists, entrepreneurs, and creatives, helping him find unique ways to make things work out of an inherited ability to think different out of necessity. Here, Kevin writes his own story at the nexus of art, design, and utility, informed by his cultural identity and a broader need for environmental sustainability and universal accessibility in design.
