Barn Wood Farmhouse Table

This was a unique project in which the customer asked to have a sentimental homemade kitchen island repurposed into a dining table. This table is entirely made of the wood from the kitchen island. The customer wanted me to preserve some of the handwriting written inside of the kitchen island as a memorial to a passed loved one. I inlaied those pieces on the table base.

The decaying barn wood was cleaned, hardened, sealed, cut and miter folded over solid fir into 4x4’s. The original top was disassembled board by board, straightened, flattened, and glued up into its final breadboard configuration. The table is very sturdy.
