The challenge was to build a functional Murphy bed or wall bed that is economical and simplistic while maintaining a one piece construction. Most Murphy bed kits use expensive welded hardware, but this one simply rotates on 4 door hinges with low cost gas struts to assist with lifting and slowing the descent. Shelving on either side provide some needed storage while some white paint and birch edge banding give it a clean look.
